sunshower cartographer
I'm captivated by sunshowers. The way that the gloom and grey can be suddenly turned to living crystals by the improbable return of the sun, even while the storm still rages is beautiful.
And it look a lot like love I think.
The way that even human love can alchemize.
The grey of suffering, of drudgery, or even just of the ordinary monotony of life can be transfixed and transfigured by the presence of love - restoring life and color and meaning, even if only by the memory of those things. Reminding us that no matter how dark things get, there is more to the story because the foundation of the world is still Love.
These are the patterns and rhythms that I find to be always at work. Storms of darkness that feel impossible, but the sun improbably reminding us of its unfailing presence.

In a world where our attention is commodified and funneled towards anything that will cause us outrage, it is more important than ever to be intentional about how we spend our attention. Where we give our attention is where we give our love.

So I'll be here, seeking out the good, even in the storm. Places and the people who teach me how to give and receive love, even just a hair's breadth more than before. That's where I find hope in the darkness. Because at the end of the day, that's all that life is really about - learning how to love and be loved and to get better at both.

I'd love it if you'd join me on the adventure!

help me to be a writer
After many years of writing as a side project, I am finally crossing the bridge into full time writing. This is a slow process and, just like the artists of old, I need the support of generous patrons in order to become a full fledged artist.

Luckily, unlike in the Renaissance, you can become a patron of the arts at absolutely any price tag you feel comfortable with.

However, if you support me at $10/month, I will send you a physical newsletter every month.
